Mele Mei Concerts on the Lawn

To celebrate Hawaiian music, the folks who put on the annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards are throwing a party on the Hilton's Great Lawn, beach side at sunset, with fireworks at the end. What more you like?  John headlines this fantastic event around 8pm. Maunalua and Cyril Pahinui join him on the bill, along with the Tihati Polynesian Dancers to kick it all off. Proceeds benefit the Hilton's annual Charity Walk fundraiser. Pick up tickets at the Entertainment Desk in the hotel lobby between 7am and 4pm daily.  Mele Mei is a series of concerts sponsored by the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts and features artists who have won or been nominated for Hoku Awards over the years. John has won 3, for the record.

John's last show here sold out and he played for 3 hours, so you never know what kind of magic will happen on this stage. Book a room for the weekend and make it even better.

Kamehameha Day Celebration

This first annual festival honoring Hawaii's legendary king takes place in beautiful Hana on Maui. The event doesn't even have an address, website or phone number, so you know it's gotta be good. John performs right next to Hana Bay for an extended set at about 4pm. Food vendors and crafts will be available, while halau and other local bands play throughout the day. George Kahumoku, Brother Noland and LT Smooth perform as well. The event benefits Ohana Makamae, the family resource center for the East Maui community. Hana is truly a step back in time and worth the long, meandering drive out there.

Plenty of food vendors and arts and crafts booths, as well as kids' play areas will accompany the music.
