"When I paint, I am interested in bold color, energetic line, and strong composition to convey a powerful image filled with atmosphere and light. I enjoy the contrast between the spirited execution of a painting and the serenity and peacefulness of the scene. Clear brush and pastel strokes have become an important aspect of my work and bring vitality and movement to the painting." Deborah Quinn-Munson of South Dartmouth, Massachsetts has received many distinctions for her work as an artist, including Top Award for Excellence in Pastel in the Art of New England Exhibition at Lyme Art Association. She has also recently been chosen as a finalist in the Artists Magazine Annual Competition and twice in the Pastel Journal Competition. Deborah’s work is in many corporate and private collections throughout the Northeast. Elected memberships include the Pastel Society of America, Copley Society of Art, Connecticut Women Artists, Essex Art Association, Connecticut Pastel Society, and Cape Cod Art Association. Deborah earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at University of New Hampshire, a Master of Arts and Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University, and she has studied at Lyme Art Academy of Fine Arts and DeCordova Museum School. Her work is known for its bold color, energetic line, and strong composition, which are primary to her as a painter to convey a powerful image filled with atmosphere and light. Deborah’s involvement in art includes working as a commercial artist, potter, photographer, and teacher. Currently, she paints at Quinn-Munson Studio in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts. ![]() |
